Elul AS Re-Birth 

Join us for a small chervuta to hold ourselves accountable for political action, learning, reflection and Teshuvah this Elul 5785. Asher will facilitate the space and bring in ancestral traditions, craft, art and music from the Sahara and Sahel while also uplifting other diasporic Jewish contributions. For the next 4 weeks Asher will send out a premade program of Jewish text, art, selichot, political education papers/zines, ancestral crafts and trauma work to help us prioritize self-examination, Teshuvah, Tzedakah and solidarity with Palestine. We will meet up with each other in NYC at the end for an in person meeting. We will not meet on zoom for security concerns. Cost: $8-80 Sliding scale for Materials + Time. A deep dive into Elul as Rebirth, flushing out both frameworks.

Bringing upon the knowledge from both Module 1 and 2 to dream up collective liberation, individual action for a Judiasm beyond empire

    I do ask that those who can afford to please pay what you can as this course is an enormous investment of love and time which means I can not work on the other stuff that sustains my family.

  • Chervuta members are asked to spend at least 1 hour a week joining in the weekly meeting and another 1 hour engaging in the materials and creative processes for a total commitment of 2 hours a week. At the end of 40 days that is quite a considerable investment you have made in yourself and your community!

  • Jewish traditions from around the world will be featured. Birthing traditions will also be featured from a variety of Jewish diasporic cultures. Yes, European Jews will also be a featured and I am excited to share my research and field work in this area and look forward to your own contributions.

  • Yes. We will not require you to donate any money but we will be taking collective action.

  • All are welcome but please note that you are going to be apart of a community and each member makes contributions of time that make the space more enjoyable for everyone.
